Tags are a part of the CRM Package. They are descriptors that can be added to your clients from the Clients tab and used to categorize your customers by certain criteria. Tags are customizable to your organization and can be added by any Admin. A tag can be set up for anything from noting if a customer is using a financing program or identifying prospects for another business unit.
While tags can be created by any Admin and applied to customers by anyone who has access to the customer, we recommend determining a shared protocol for how tags will be used at your organization.
This protocol may include:
- who is responsible for or able to create tags
- who will be applying the tags
- how often should they be updated
- a standard format to use
This can prevent multiple similar tags being created and any out-of-date information lingering, ensuring your team gets the most value out of this tool.
To create a tag, first you must be an Admin role.
- Navigate to Clients > Manage Tags
- In the upper right corner, click “Add Tag”
- Type in your tag how you would like it to be displayed. Click “Create Tag”
You can also create a tag in the same flow as applying the tag.
- To do this, go to the Clients section towards the top of your left-hand navigation panel. Make sure you are on the Clients tab.
- Use the filters to narrow down your list of clients to a certain set or search for one you are looking to tag
- Use the checkbox next to the client name to select individual clients, or use the checkbox at the top of the list to select all clients on the page
- Click “Edit” > “Tags”. If your tag is already created, select it using the checkbox and click “Save”
- If you need to create your tag, click “+ Create New Tag” at the bottom of the tags list. Enter how you would like your tag displayed, click “Create Tag”, and then use the checkbox next to it to select it and click “Save”
Example Tags:
- “Grain Prospect”
- “Attended “X” event”
- “Top 10% customer”
- “Board Member”
- “Energy Budget Billing Customer”
Tags can be used to:

- On the Clients list use the tags filter to select your segment
- Click “Send Message” > “Text” to create a message to send to each of these segmented customers
