Template variables allow you to personalize marketing emails, text messages, and push notifications with recipient-specific information. When a message is sent, each variable is automatically replaced with the appropriate value for that recipient.
For example:
Hi {first_name}, your {agronomy_salesperson} has a special offer for you.
When the message is delivered, the variables are replaced with actual customer, salesperson, or platform information.
Available Template Variables
Customer Information
Use these variables to personalize messages with customer details.
| Variable | Displays |
|---|---|
| {first_name} | Recipient's first name |
| {last_name} | Recipient's last name |
| {full_name} | Recipient's full name |
| {salesperson} | Full name of the recipient's assigned salesperson |
| {company_name} | Your organization's display name |
| {platform_name} | The name of your customer platform |
Note: {company_name} and {platform_name} are backend variables that are configured for your platform. If you are unsure what values these variables will display in your messages, please contact your Partner Experience Manager at help@agvend.com for assistance.
Business Unit Salesperson Information
If customers have different salespeople assigned by business unit, use the variables below to display the appropriate contact.
| Variable | Displays |
| {agronomy_salesperson} | Assigned Agronomy salesperson |
| {grain_salesperson} | Assigned Grain salesperson |
| {energy_salesperson} | Assigned Energy salesperson |
| {feed_salesperson} | Assigned Feed salesperson |
Note: If a salesperson is not assigned for a specific business unit, the variable will display as "your salesperson" in the message.
Variable Formatting Rules
Template variables are flexible and can be entered in multiple formats.
Case Does Not Matter
The following examples all resolve correctly:
- {grain_salesperson}
- {Grain_Salesperson}
- {GRAIN_SALESPERSON}
Different Separators Are Supported
You can use underscores, spaces, or hyphens:
- {grain_salesperson}
- {grain salesperson}
- {grain-salesperson}
Extra Spaces Are Ignored
The following format also works:
- { grain_salesperson }
Add Variables to a Marketing Message
- Navigate to the Marketing tab.
- Create a new email, text message, or push notification, or open an existing draft.
- Type the desired variable directly into your message using curly braces.
Example:
Hi {first_name}, your {agronomy_salesperson} has a special offer for you.
- Preview your message before sending to confirm the variables are displaying as expected.
- Send or schedule your message.
Best Practices
- Use customer names to create a more personalized experience.
- Include salesperson variables to help customers know who to contact.
- Always preview messages before sending.
- Use business-unit-specific salesperson variables when customers may have different contacts across departments.
