Create Targeted Contact Lists for Marketing Communications
Primary Audience: Marketing Leads, Admins
Contact Lists allow you to organize customers and contacts into targeted groups for marketing communications. By using filters based on ERP and platform data, you can create highly specific audiences for emails, text messages, app notifications, and other marketing campaigns.
Because Contact Lists use current customer information from your ERP, they help ensure your communications reach the most relevant audience.
There are five different types of contact lists. The table below highlights each type, offers a brief explanation, and lists an example of how each can be utilized.
Type |
Definition & Example |
|
Dynamic Client List Updates in real-time |
Automatically updates when customers meet or no longer meet the selected criteria.
|
|
Static Client List Snapshot in time |
The list doesn't update, so only the customers who fit the set criteria from when you make the list are included.
|
|
Imported Recipient List Spreadsheets |
Upload a CSV or Excel file with the customer/recipient contact information included.
|
|
Internal User List Your employees |
Create lists of internal Team Hub users for internal communications and announcements.
|
|
Prospect List Customers |
Pulls contacts from the CRM Prospect page, allowing you to market to potential customers before they become active clients.
|
Tip: Use a Dynamic Client List when you want the audience to automatically update over time. Use a Static Client List when you want to preserve a specific group of customers exactly as they existed on a particular date.
Follow the steps below to create a targeted contact list. In this example, we will create a Dynamic Client List containing customers who have made purchases during the current crop year. This type of list can be used for loyalty campaigns, seasonal promotions, or customer appreciation communications.
- Navigate to the Marketing tab.
- Click on “Contact Lists” in the horizontal navigation bar.
- Click on “Create Contact List” in the upper right corner.
-
Set your filter fields and click “Apply Filter”.
Multiple filters can be combined to create highly targeted audiences for specific campaigns.
Contact Lists can be built using a variety of filters, including:
- Location
- Salesperson
- Tags
- Crop year activity
- Product purchases
- Customer engagement
- Marketing activity
-
Custom Profile data
- In this example, we are filtering for all clients who bought any $ amount in the current crop year.
- Give your new Dynamic Client List a custom name and then click “Save”
- After saving the list, it will be available when creating marketing communications. You can reuse the list for future campaigns without recreating the filters.
